On Wednesday 12th June 2024, Year 3 children were joined by a member of the “SingaBook” team to learn a fabulous play entitled The Unhappy Caterpillar.

Sing a Book, a community interest company, was founded in 2014 to engage and develop children’s understanding of stories using the medium of original songs linked to books and musical theatre.

Sing a Book provides a range of services to schools and communities that includes workshops, theatrical productions and merchandise and was awarded Lewisham Mayor’s Award for Voluntary Contribution in 2022.  Our theatre productions teaches about black history and broadens children’s knowledge of its link to British history, while promoting diversity and community cohesion. Our workshops and after-school clubs are now well established in a growing number of schools and educational establishments and they have been proven to raise pupils’ confidence, whilst improving their public speaking and writing skills.

It is our mission at Sing a Book to produce new and innovative workshops, theatrical productions and merchandise of the highest quality that are fun, engaging and encourages children to develop their creative skills and become life-long learners who make positive contributions to their communities.

In the afternoon, our team of year 3 actors had the opportunity to perform their play in front of an audience of parents and carers, plus our year 4 children. Well done to our talented year 3 girls. They did a fantastic job!
