Year 5 created ‘A Play in a Day’ with the fantastic Pete Tidy from Sing a Book. This time the play was based around Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

Sing a Book, a community interest company, was founded in 2014 to engage and develop children’s understanding of stories using the medium of original songs linked to books and musical theatre. Sing a Book provides a range of services to schools and communities that includes workshops, theatrical productions and merchandise and was awarded Lewisham Mayor’s Award for Voluntary Contribution in 2022.

Pete Tidy, Director, specialising in improvisation and script writing, has over 25 years experience in teaching from nursery to secondary and special schools specialising in English, Drama, PE, PSHCE, French & SEND.

Subsequently, as Creative Director of Primary Colours, he devised, directed and performed Theatre-in-Education for audiences aged 3-16, performing to over 100,000 children in 500 schools across England and delivered diversity and inclusion training to 6,000 teachers, via INSET and writing and editing books and resources for children and teachers.
