We were recently visited by John Rolfe MBE, Schools outreach Manager for the British Council and a direct descendant of Pocahontas; Native American woman notable for her association with the colonial settlement at Jamestown, Virginia. Pocahontas was the daughter of Powhatan, the paramount chief of a network of tributary tribal nations in the Tsenacommacah, encompassing the Tidewater region of Virginia.

John very kindly visited our school to explore the possibilities of how Winterbourne Junior Girls’ School could partner with other schools across the globe. John met the children and staff and also sat in lessons to observe.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank John for visiting us and hope that he comes back soon.
